Pollera Nera

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pollera Nera is an autochthonous red grape variety from Valla Magra in the Liguria region and north-western Tuscany in Italy . It is used there, for example, in the Denominazione di origine controllata - red wine Colli di Luni Rosso. In the 1990s the area under vines was almost 103 hectares. The largest stocks were in the province of Massa-Carrara . The variety was mentioned in writing in 1825 as a widespread vine in the Cinque Terre and Massa-Carrara regions .

Ampelographic varietal characteristics

In ampelography , the habitus is described as follows:

  • The shoot tip is open. It is woolly hairy, greenish in color with a slight bronze tinge. The light green young leaves are slightly hairy.
  • The medium-sized leaves are five-lobed and clearly indented (see also the article leaf shape ). The stem bay is open in a U-shape. The sheet is serrated to a point. The teeth are medium-sized compared to the grape varieties.
  • The conical grape is shouldered, medium to large and dense berries. The round berries are medium to large in size and bluish-reddish in color. The aroma of the berry is quite neutral.

The grape variety ripens approx. 35 days after the Gutedel and is therefore ripening very late even by northern Italian standards. Pollera Nera is a variety of the noble grapevine ( Vitis vinifera ). It has hermaphroditic flowers and is self-fruiting. In viticulture , therefore, there is no economic disadvantage of not having to grow male plants that produce yields.
