The Polska Akademia Literatury (German: Polish Literature Academy ) existed between 1933 and 1939 and was one of the most important institutions of literary life in the Second Republic of Poland .

The academy was established by government decree for the purpose of honoring and promoting the best contemporary Polish literary professionals. According to its statutes, it should be the highest body for the Polish language , literature and culture . The academy awarded the coveted literary prizes, the Złoty and Srebrny Wawrzyn ( Golden and Silver Laurel Wreaths ).

The structure of the academy was deliberately based on that of the Académie française . It consisted of 15 members elected for life, the first 7 being elected by the Minister of Culture and the remaining 8 by the first 7. In addition, there were honorary members to which u. a. President Ignacy Mościcki and Marshal Józef Piłsudski counted. Its president was Wacław Sieroszewski , assisted by the vice-president Leopold Staff and the general secretary Juliusz Kaden-Bandrowski .
