Wacław Kajetan Sieroszewski alias Wacław Sirko (born August 24, 1858 in Wólka Kozłowska near Tłuszcz , † April 20, 1945 in Piaseczno ) was a Polish writer of the Young Poland period, Siberia- exiled, holder of the Virtuti Militari order , senator of the Second Republic of Poland and President of the Polska Akademia Literatury . Sieroszewski wrote numerous novels , short stories and ethnographic works from the Far East .

He spent fifteen years in Siberia. He lived among the Yakuts for twelve years and became very familiar with their language and customs. He also researched the Tungus , Jukagirs and Chukchi . In 1903 he traveled to Sakhalin .
