Juliusz Kaden-Bandrowski
Juliusz Kaden-Bandrowski (born February 24, 1885 in Rzeszów , † August 8, 1944 in Warsaw ) was a Polish prose writer and publicist .
life and work
He was the son of Juliusz Marian Bandrowski and his wife Helena geb. Kaden and brother of the writer Jerzy Bandrowski (1883–1940). Kaden-Bandrowski first studied piano at the universities in Lemberg , Krakow and Leipzig and then philosophy in Brussels . In 1907 he became a publicist and correspondent for the Polish-language press and worked in the Skamander group. He was Józef Piłsudski's adjutant and chronicle writer in Piłsudski's 1st Polish Brigade.
From 1933 to 1939 he was general secretary of the Polska Akademia Literatury . During the German occupation of Poland , he stayed in Warsaw and took part in the secret education system, for which he was arrested by the Gestapo . His two sons, twin brothers Andrzej and Paweł, were Polish Home Army officers and died fighting with the Germans. He himself died in Warsaw during the Warsaw Uprising . All three were buried in the Warsaw Evangelical Cemetery .
