Polydoros from Pherai

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Polydoros ( Greek: Πολύδωρος ; † 370 BC ) was a tyrant of Pherai in Thessaly .

Polydorus was a brother of the tyrant Jason , whom he was after his murder in 370 BC. BC followed with his third brother Polyphron in the tyranny as well as in the office of the Tagos of Thessaly. It is rumored that Polydoros himself was implicated in the murder of his brother. In the same year he was murdered in his sleep during a tour of Larisa by Polyphron, who was thus able to assume sole rule.

Polydorus was probably the father of Alexandros , who murdered Polyphron only a year later in order to avenge him.
