List of apple varieties |
The Pomeranian long sweet is a historical, regional apple variety. The long sweet belongs to the prince's apple class and is considered a good table apple and an excellent commercial apple. While the sweet apple was once widespread as a local variety in Pomerania, it is now almost extinct.
Variety characteristics
The Pomeranian long sweet is a large to very large, cylindrical and beautifully colored apple. The taste of the white and juicy meat is spicy, but without the typical prince's apple taste. The lover variety tends to alternate, but bears abundantly every two years and can be picked from September. The variety used to be widespread in the area around Köslin in Western Pomerania has now become rare.
Together with the Finkenwerder Herbstprinzen , the Doppel Prinzenapfel and the Real Schmalzprinzen, the Langsweet belongs to the Prinzenäpfel class, a group of northern German regional varieties.
