Ponty Bone

Ponty Bone (born October 9, 1939 in San Antonio , Texas - † July 13, 2018 ) was an American accordionist who became internationally known as a session musician and with his own band The Squeezetones . The Squeezetones mixed elements from blues , Cajun , Zydeco and Tejano in their music .

Originally from San Antonio, Bone has played the accordion since he was 5 years old. He later learned the trumpet and played in his high school brass band. After working in Houston and Louisiana , Bone came to Lubbock , where he attended Texas Tech University and joined the local music scene.

In 1976, Bone was hired by Joe Ely , with whose band he recorded five albums by 1982 and made several tours, including in Europe. After leaving Ely, Bone founded his own band, The Squeezetones , which has since released several albums on small record labels and became internationally known. As a guest musician, Bone has appeared on works by Robert Earl Keen , Butch Hancock , Jerry Jeff Walker , Omar & The Howlers , Terri Hendrix and many others.
