The Poorman Peak is a 1610 m high and rocky mountain in the north of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Wilson Hills it rises 15 km west-southwest of Mount Ellery near the head of the Suvorov Glacier .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it based on its own surveys and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1960 to 1963. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1970 after Dean A. Poorman, aircraft mechanic of the VX-6 flight squadron in the Antarctic winter of 1967 the McMurdo station .
