Popiwka (Ukrainian Попівка ; Russian Поповка / Popowka ) is a village in Ukraine in the Saky Raion in the western part of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea . It belongs to the district municipality Schtormowe ( Штормівська сільська рада / Штормовской сельский совет ) which also includes the villages Krylowka (Криловка) Prywitne (Привітне) Chutorok (Хуторок) and the eponymous Schtormowe (Штормове) are situated about 28 km northwest of Yevpatoria at the Black Sea coast. Popivka is a seaside resort and had 160 inhabitants in 2001.

Location and traffic

The village of Popivka is located in the far west of the district in a steppe-like area of ​​the Crimean peninsula directly on the Black Sea coast, about 5 m above sea level. In the east, Krylowka, about 2.5 km away, borders on Popivka, in the north, 1.5 km away, Myrnyj ( Мирний ); in the southeast is Schtormowe 4 km away. In the northwest, the village borders on the Donuslaw Lake ( оз. Донузлав ), in the southeast on the muddy Ojburske Lake ( оз. Ойбурское / оз. Ойбурське ). The regional center, Yevpatoria , is about 28 km away; the next train station is also located there. Popiwka can be reached supraregionally via the international airport of the city of Simferopol ( Сімферополь / Симферополь ), which is around 100 km southeast .

Trivia

From 2001 to 2013, the “Republic of Kazantip” , a project for electronic music, creativity and kite surfing, existed on the beach of Popiwka for a few weeks each summer . Then the village hosted a multiple of its population in guests.
