The Pori wall lizard ( Podarcis levendis ) is a species of lizard belonging to the genus of the wall lizard . The species name levendis refers to the seafarers in the eastern Mediterranean and means "brave man".

features

The Pori wall lizard is a large, strong and robust wall lizard. The head-torso length of the males averages 74 millimeters, that of the females 72 millimeters. Exact knowledge about drawing patterns and coloring is not yet available.

Occurrence

The species is only known from the two islands of Pori and Lagouvardos . These are located in the Strait of Kythira between the Greek islands of Kythira and Andikythira . The relic species Podarcis levendis has lived in isolation from other populations for about 5 million years.

Way of life

So far there is no information about the way of life.

Hazard and protection

Due to its small and isolated occurrence, the species is classified as endangered (VU - Vulnerable ) in the international and national Red List .
