Scheme of the Irish portal Tombarten

The portal Tomb of Muntermellan ( Irish Muintir Mhealláin ; also called The Dane's Cove or Diarmuid / Dermot and Grania's Bed ) is located in County Donegal in Ireland , between rocky ridges with a view of Dunfanaghy and over Errigal - and Muckish Mountain , north of a bay of the Sheephaves Bay. Megalithic systems on the British Isles are called Portal Tombs , in which two equally high, upright stones with a door stone in between form the front of a chamber, which is covered with a sometimes huge capstone.

A small door stone has been preserved between the two upright 2.5 meter high portal stones, which closed the chamber. The sides and the back are formed by individual panels - one is over 3 meters long. One half of the capstone rests horizontally on two of the bearing stones (one is offset). The other, slightly larger half, leans diagonally against the western portal stone. Part of the cairn has been preserved.

The megalithic complexes Errarooey Beg ( Oirear Dhomhaí Beag ), Greenhill and Ballymore Lower are nearby .
