The Porte de la Martille in Salers , a French commune in the Cantal department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region , was built in the second half of the 15th century. The city ​​gate has been on the list of architectural monuments in France as Monument historique since 1925 .

In 1428 King Charles VII allowed the residents of Salers to fortify the city. In addition to the Porte de la Martille, the Porte du Beffroi still exists today , and two more city gates were demolished.

The Porte de la Martille is built on a rectangular floor plan, it consists of basalt stone from the region and has two floors. The tower is closed off by a pyramid roof , which is covered with stone slabs. A pointed arched passage is spanned by a barrel vault. On the field side, the rest of the destroyed coat of arms of the city can be seen above the arch. The two wooden gates that existed on the field and on the city side no longer exist.
