The Portugal Open 2013 was a tennis tournament in Portugal. They took place from April 27 to May 5, 2013 in the clay court tennis facility of the Complexo Desportivo do Jamor in Oeiras . The organizer was the company João Lagos Sports SA of the former tennis player João Lagos .

The tournament was part of both the male ATP World Tour 2013 and the female WTA Tour 2013 .

After the tournament had been held as the Estoril Open since 1990 , Lagos announced on March 21, 2013 that it would operate under the name Portugal Open in future . The suggestion for the renaming was given by the Portuguese Foreign Minister Paulo Portas in order to give the name of the country more weight. At the same time, Lagos announced that it had lost the Banco Espírito Santo as a sponsor.

In the men's singles, Juan Martín del Potro , the winner of the last two years, canceled his participation immediately before the start of the tournament due to a stomach virus. The field in the women’s singles was led by Marion Bartoli . Defending champion Kaia Kanepi had also registered for the tournament.
