The Poso Bungu goby ( Mugilogobius amadi , Syn .: Weberogobius amadi ) is an extremely rare or already extinct fish species from the subfamily of dwarf gobies ( Gobionellinae ) within the family of Oxudercidae . She is or has been endemic in the Lake Poso ( Danau Poso ) on Sulawesi .

description

The Poso Bungu goby reaches a length of 14.5 centimeters. The body and the fins are monochrome dark brown to black. There are seven dorsal spines, nine to ten dorsal rays, one anal spine, ten to twelve anal rays, 26 vertebrae, 52 to 65 longitudinal and 14 to 20 transverse scales. The 22 to 36 scales on the front of the back are small. They expand past the gill cover, but do not reach the eyes. The body scales are mostly comb-like. The third or fourth spine of the dorsal fin is the longest. The body is quite compressed and slender. The nose and jaws are long. The mouth is terminal. The gill openings are oblique. The shoulder girdle is smooth.

Way of life

Apart from the fact that it occurs or was found as a basic inhabitant in the deep areas of Lake Poso, little is known about its way of life.

status

The Poso Bungu goby was last detected in 1987. Possible causes for their disappearance are the pollution of Lake Poso and the introduction of foreign fish species.
