Prachya Pinkaew
Prachya Pinkaew ( Thai : ปรัชญา ปิ่นแก้ว ; born September 2, 1962 in Nakhon Ratchasima ) is a Thai film director , film producer and screenwriter , who is mainly known for his martial arts films.
life and work
Although Prachya 1985 studied architecture at Nakhon Ratchasima Technology College in the province of Nakhon Ratchasima graduated, he started five years later a career in the film industry. First he worked as artistic director in an advertising agency and from 1992 also as a director for music video clips, some of which also won national awards, although he had never been trained as a director.
His first feature film, The Magic Shoes , followed in 1992 , followed by Romantic Blues (1993/1994), when he concentrated more on film production and the development of the Baa-Ram-Ewe production company, of which he is now chairman. After a break of almost ten years as a director, Prachya Pinkaew directed the martial arts film Ong-Bak in 2003 , which became one of the most successful films in Thailand and was also included in international film distribution.
Today Prachya works primarily as a film producer, but does not specialize in certain genres. Since 2003 he has been President of the Thai Film Association .
