action

In the 19th century, Siam was increasingly viewed by the European powers as an area of interest that they wanted to secure. In 1855, in the so-called Age of “Economic Trade”, the Southeast Asian Kingdom finally signed the Bowring Treaty, an economic agreement with England to export goods - especially rice as its main export. In the following years, the rice cultivation area is multiplied, but the enormously increased demand, coupled with the traditional cultivation of the fields, reaches its capacity limit when it is no longer possible to raise enough water buffalo to be used in the field. In order to prevent the shortage of livestock, cattle dealers, called Nai Hoi , drive the coveted "goods" from the north to the Khorat plateau . One of them is the good-natured magician Singh.

The lisping businessman Count Wang imports expensive modern tractors in order to sell them at a profit to the more backward farmers in Isaan . However, since the impoverished population prefers the cheaper buffalo and traders are constantly offering new buffalo, Wang hires unscrupulous cattle thieves to limit the influx of migratory and farm animals by murdering and consuming. The tractor dealer wants to eliminate his competition, buffalo dealer Singh is a thorn in his side.

Against this background, the young outsider Jone Bang Fai, a kind of Robin Hood , is looking for a cowardly murderer and cattle thief with superhuman abilities who once killed his parents and left him badly injured as a boy to his fate. The youth grew up to be a gifted Muay Thai fighter and rocket science expert, who since then has been selflessly using his skills for the good to return forcibly stolen cattle to their original owners, often impoverished farmers. One day Bang Fai is convinced that he has found the culprit in the mighty Singh. His only clue is a distinctive tattoo on the suspect's upper body, who is initially able to evade the avenger using his magical abilities.

Count Wang and his predatory henchmen know about the power of Singh and since they cannot neutralize him, the nobleman turns to the black demon Dam, who willingly offers help to get revenge on his former friend and companion for a curse long ago to take. For a spell, however, the magical villain needs menstrual blood from a virgin - he names his alleged daughter E-sao as a possible "donor" - and a courageous person who comes as close as possible to Singh. Wang uses a ruse to secure the services of the unsuspecting Bang Fai, who mistakenly suspects Singh to be the wanted murderer. A little later, in the meantime the hero E-sao has come closer, there is an unequal duel with the surprised Singh, which Bang Fai can win for himself. Now at the latest, the gifted fighter realizes that he has fallen victim to a plot, that Singh is in reality a righteous trader. His enemies are Count Wang and the dark demon Dam, who reveals himself to be the murderer of his parents.

At the end of the film, Bang Fai tries to atone for his guilt and to help the accursed Singh. He successfully asserts himself against his two remaining opponents, who unite in a strange ritual to form one body, as well as against a cannibalistic bandit. In the midst of this opaque fighting, the seriously injured Singh dies. In the last scene of the film, the hero of the film, Bang Fai, rides on the back of a buffalo with his beloved E-sao.

Reviews

“Between all the cheap CGI and some rocket rides by Chupong, there are still some very well done stunts and fights that show how good martial arts from Thailand can be. Most of the time, the Thai actioner manages to get bored excellently. "
