Pratima Kumari

Pratima Kumari (born January 30, 1976 ) is a former Indian weightlifter .

Career

Kumari reached eighth place at the 1997 World Championships in the class up to 59 kg. At the 1998 Asian Games she was seventh in the push, but had no valid attempt in the snatch. In 2000 she was fourth at the Asian Championships . At the 2001 World Championships she took seventh place in the 63 kg class. In 2002 she won gold in duels and jerks and silver in snatch at the Commonwealth Games and finished fifth at the Asian Championships .

At the 2003 Asian Championships , Kumari won the silver medal and at the 2003 World Championships she was twelfth. In 2004 she reached fourth place at the Asian Championships . She was also part of the roster for the Olympic Games . Shortly before her competition in Athens, however, she was tested positive for testosterone in a doping control and banned for two years.
