Practice class

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The practical class (or P-class in Bavaria ) is a model of support for secondary school students with major learning and performance gaps. These students are to be guided to a positive learning and work attitude through specific support and to be supported in their professional life through cooperation with companies in the form of internships.

target group

In principle, there are students in the practical class who are in their 9th or 8th year of school attendance and who can be led to a positive learning and working attitude through specific support with high job-related practical components.

Attending the practice class is voluntary and requires the consent of the legal guardian. The basic requirement is a clear will and interest on the part of the pupil and the parents to improve school performance. Pure school refusal without positive approaches and without willingness to change will not be accepted or will be expelled from the practical class. This is especially true for students with difficult upbringing.

Practice class 9 (P 9)

  • Target group: Students who have completed their 8th year of schooling.
  • Duration: 1 school year
  • In the 2005/2006 school year, 95 practice classes were set up across Bavaria.

Practice class 8 (P 8)

  • Target group: Students who have completed their 7th year of school attendance.
  • Duration: 2 school years
  • There are currently around ten P8 classes in Bavaria.

aims

The aim is to teach the students in cooperation with extracurricular partners and through lessons tailored to the capabilities of these students

Perspectives

According to the Bavarian Minister of Education, Siegfried Schneider, 30% of the graduates got a training position in the first year after attending the practical class. In the second year after the visit, it was already 50% of the students.

However, the Free State has approved further funding for existing practice classes.
