Predio Canopoli
The fountain sanctuary, named after the property owner or discoverer Predio Canopoli , is located on Via Garibaldi in Perfuga's province of Sassari in Sardinia near the parish church and a nuragic complex .
The holy well ( Italian Pozzo sacro ) from the end of the Nuragic period was discovered in 1923 when the owner wanted to build a well in his garden. It was partially excavated, and among other things the bronze "Bull of Perfugas" was found, which can be seen today in the Museo Nazionale GA Sanna von Sassari .
In 1975 another excavation was carried out, which uncovered the monument, which was then filled in again. The complex, made of white limestone , probably had the usual shape of a keyhole, starting with a 2 m wide anteroom, from which a narrow, eight-step staircase leads to the 3 m deep well shaft, the inner diameter of which is about 1.5 m, but its above-ground modifications absence. The work on the above-ground part of this facility may not have been completed at all. In the vestibule there is an altar with two pews on either side.
