Preston Iceland is the largest island in the group of the Henkes Islands off southern end of the West Antarctic Adelaide Island .
The Royal Navy's hydrographic surveying unit carried out geodetic surveys of the island between 1962 and 1963 . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them on February 12, 1964 after Frank Preston (* 1938), geodesist of the British Antarctic Survey and head of the group that was the first to winter on Adelaide Island in 1961.
