Priam della Quercia

Priamo della Quercia (* around 1400 probably in Quercegrossa , Castelnuovo Berardenga near Siena , † after 1467 in Siena) was an Italian painter of the early Renaissance .
Priamo della Quercia was the brother of the famous sculptor Jacopo della Quercia , but his style of painting remained rooted in the late Gothic in the few works that can certainly be attributed to it. In contrast to the works of his brother, he did not set any trend-setting accents towards the early Renaissance, but rather copied such elements from other artists of his time, e. B. Domenico di Bartolo .
Little is known about the life of Priamo della Quercia, and only a few works can be clearly attributed to his hand, including two very important ones in Santa Maria della Scala in Siena .
