history

Air raid in 1945

During the Second World War (1939–1945), Heereszeugamt V was located in Primerburg on the south side of the Priemerburg train station. It was completely destroyed by an American air raid on the Sunday after Easter 1945 at 1:00 p.m. This was the only air raid on the city of Güstrow during World War II. Later in the post-war years (during the GDR period) a sugar factory (later until the demolition of Nordzucker ) was built on the former site of Heereszeugamt V.

Primerwald Army Ammunition Plant

In the Second World War and afterwards, in the years 1945 to 1947, there was a switch on the railway line to Plaaz – Laage – Rostock south of the former Bockhorst (name of the air base of the Air Force in Güstrow). This switch, which was set in the normal operating case in the direction of Plaaz-Laage-Rostock, alternatively formed a branch to the Primerwald Army Ammunition Plant a few kilometers further . In 1946/47 the described points for freight and passenger trains destined for Primerwald were manually changed by the train crew and then put back after the train had passed. The ammunition plant (Muna for short) Primerwald , located in the forest east of the Bützow – Neubrandenburg railway line, spread over several square kilometers and was the scene of blasting work on former ammunition stocks under the supervision of the Red Army in 1946–1947 . The former army ammunition facility was used militarily by the National People's Army and the Soviet armed forces until 1990. There were various tank units, first aid units and various depots, e.g. for anti-aircraft missiles.
