Prienbach is a district of the municipality of Stubenberg in the Lower Bavarian district of Rottal-Inn .

location

The parish village of Prienbach is located on the Prienbach before its confluence with the Inn about two kilometers south of Stubenberg. The striking Gasthof zur Post is located directly on Bundesstraße 12 , which leads past Prienbach to the south.

history

In a traditional note from the 8th century, which gives information about the donations of the Bavarian dukes Hugbert and Tassilo and various nobles to the bishopric of Passau , an Irminperht is mentioned as the donor who handed over a manse in Prienbach without any conditions . However , the Hochstift does not appear here in the landmarks of the 13th century.

With regard to Wolfgang Baumgartner zu Stubenberg it was stated in 1560 that he also owned the Hofmark Prienbach. When in 1569 the Hofmark Stubenberg went to the Höhenkirchner and in 1650 fell back to the Baumgartner, this probably also affected Prienbach. In 1824 Primbach was mentioned as part of the Stubenberg community, and in 1830 as part of the 2nd class patrimonial court in Stubenberg.

From an ecclesiastical perspective, Prienbach was originally a branch of the Kirchberg am Inn parish, was elevated to a branch in 1859 and a parish in 1898.

Attractions

  • The late Gothic parish church of St. Stephen was built at the end of the 15th century. The late Romanesque substructure of the church tower is likely to date from the late 13th century. A slender octagonal tower with a high clapboard hood from the late 18th century rises on this square base . The pulpit and altars were built around 1680, the Renaissance wooden statues on the south side wall of the choir between 1600 and 1650.
