Primeln & Elefanten is the fourth album by the German rock music group Keimzeit .

The 16 songs were recorded in October and November 1994, 14 of them in the Audioton studio in Berlin , Windstill and Schone nicht mein Nerven in Lütte . The album went on sale on April 18, 1995.

Frontman Norbert Leisegang subsequently described the style of the group Keimzeit from the late 1980s to the mid-1990s as "Muesli-Chanson-Rock'n'Roll". The album Primeln & Elefanten is perhaps the best illustration of what he could have meant by it: The songs are catchy, very melodic and thoroughly sympathetic; the experiments with South American rhythms from the album Bunte Scharte are continued ( Gott will , Primeln & Elefanten ), but the GDR blues rock also comes into its own again ( lost , daughter B. ). Even waltzes and klezmer sounds can be found on the album ( Schone not my nerves , The axis ). The lyrics are almost always about love and / or partnership. Sensitivities that go beyond this are packed into metaphorical puzzles in which the “learned GDR citizen” can read between the lines as usual. Many fans therefore still consider this album to be the band's masterpiece.

On the follow-up (studio) album In the electromagnetic field, however, the musicians dared to make a radical break with previous stylistic devices; also to get rid of the image of the “identity-creating eastern band”.

With the instrumental piece Lisa , someone other than lyricist / composer / frontman Norbert Leisegang contributed a title to a Keimzeit album for the second time - Ralf Benschu .
