Prince County is one of three districts (Engl. County ) in the Canadian province of Prince Edward Iceland . The administrative seat (English shire town ) is Summerside .
Prince County has 44,348 people living in an area of 1979.49 km². The population density is thus 22.4 inhabitants / km². For all of these numbers, Prince County ranks second among the counties.
Samuel Holland founded the district in 1765 for the British King George IV and named it after him. The administrative seat became Princetown , but later Summerside.
geography
Prince County is to the west of Prince Edward Osland. Melpeque Bay, a bay in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, is in the district . The geographic division created by Malpeque Bay unofficially divides urban East Prince and rural West Prince.
