Priscilla Barrett

Priscilla Barrett (born May 4, 1944 in Cape Town ) is a South African - British wildlife illustrator . She lives and works in Cambridge .

Life

Barrett was inspired by artists such as Edmund Caldwell and Maurice Wilson in her childhood and teenage years . She studied languages ​​and teaching at the universities of Cape Town and Stellenbosch . Her multi-year behavioral studies on wildlife led to a full-time career as an illustrator in 1976 . In 1987 she became an elected member of the Society of Wildlife Artists (SWLA). She had exhibitions in Cambridge, London , Brighton and Lavenham and illustrated several books on mammals . She makes her drawings and illustrations with watercolors, pastel colors, colored pencil, pencil or Indian ink.

Barrett was married to the neurobiologist Gabriel Horn (1927–2012) from 1980 to 2012 .
