Private Eyes is a 1981 Hall & Oates song written by Warren Pash, Daryl Hall , Sara, and Janna Allen. It appeared on the album of the same name. Daryl Hall, John Oates and Neil Kernon were responsible for the production .

The melody was composed by Warren Pash, Janna Allen did the arrangement and Daryl Hall wrote the chords. In an interview with the American songwriter , Hall said, "That's a real Janna Allen [co-writer and sister of Sara Allen] song. Janna, and I, and Warren Pash wrote that. Warren and Janna wrote most of the song, and I. took it and changed it around - changed the chords. Sandy [Sara Allen] and I wrote the lyrics. It's a real family song, the Allen sisters and me. The rhythm is similar to the song Kiss on My List , but with the difference that there is clapping in the chorus. Private Eyes was one of the first songs that was played very often on MTV . The release was August 29, 1981.

Music video

The style of the music video is kept in film noir . The duo and the accompanying musicians play the song in the video and wear trench coats . This was also the first video of those starring GE Smith as guitarist , Tom Wolk as bassist , Mickey Curry as drummer and Charles DeChant on saxophone.
