Under the ProMarkt brand , REWE Unterhaltungselektronik GmbH , based in Cologne , a subsidiary of the Rewe Group , operated a retail chain for entertainment electronics with specialist stores .

Around 1,900 employees generated sales of 613 million euros in the 69 specialist stores and online retail.

Until 2009, REWE Unterhaltungselektronik GmbH operated the ProMarkets nationwide, and only in a few places did the markets operate under the name Komet . In 2009 REWE Unterhaltungselektronik GmbH secured the naming rights for the entire stationary trade by taking over the ProMarkets of the Wegert Group . The Internet domain www.promarkt.de REWE Consumer Electronics GmbH in January 2010 by the Wegert group adopted.

Due to the continuing weak earnings of the company, the parent company REWE checked the continuation of the company in 2012. The 71 existing specialist stores generated sales of 590 million euros in 2011, a decrease in sales of 3.8 percent compared to 2010.

On May 15, 2013, Rewe announced that they wanted to part with ProMarkt. Then eighteen branches were sold to expert , ten branches to ElectronicPartner and four branches to Euronics . The business of the GmbH was stopped at the end of 2013 with the closure of the remaining 23 stores and a severance payment for the employees concerned. The online shop was closed on July 30, 2013. Since March 2014, the website has been redirected to the MediMax presence.
