Procopio Franco

Procopio Franco ( Procopio Franco Hernández ; born July 8, 1970 in Mexico City ) is a Mexican marathon runner .

In 2001 he became Central America / Caribbean Half Marathon Champion and finished 84th at the World Half Marathon Championships in Bristol , and in 2002 he finished fourth at the Maratón de la Comarca Lagunera and won the gold medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games.

In 2004 he was second overall in the Comarca Lagunera Mexican champions and thus qualified for the Olympic Games in Athens , where he finished 55th. In 2006 he defended his national title as runner-up in the Comarca Lagunera and won gold again at the Central American and Caribbean Games. The following year he was fifth in the Comarca Lagunera, won bronze at the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro and was sixth at the Gyeongju International Marathon .

In 2008 he was the overall winner in the Comarca Lagunera for the third time national champion. As third in a 30 km elimination race of the Mexican Athletics Federation, he was nominated for the Olympic Games in Beijing , where he finished 47th. At the Monterrey Marathon he was third. In 2009 he finished second in the Guadalajara Marathon.
