The Meyringer-Warte

The Meyringer-Warte is a 13 meter high timber frame construction on the 1037 meter high Hocheck in the Gutenstein Alps on the municipal border between Furth an der Triesting and Altenmarkt an der Triesting in Lower Austria .

From the viewing platform there is a panoramic view from the Schneeberg over Rax , Ostrong , Ötscher , Gemeindealpe , Dürrenstein to the Hochkar in the westernmost part of Lower Austria. With good visibility you can see as far as the Little Carpathians and the Hungarian lowlands .

history

The first observation tower on the Hocheck was built as Franciska-Warte (opening: July 10, 1881) by the rulers of Klein-Mariazell as early as 1881 and renewed in 1897 and 1923. From 1927 the observation tower served as a triangulation point . At the beginning of the 1960s the tower was handed over by the land surveying office to the ÖTK Triestingtal section, which dismantled the tower. In 1973/74 the control room was rebuilt and named after the long-standing board of the ÖTK section Triestingtal and honorary member Franz Meyringer (1901–1980).
