Proctor is a heavily eroded impact crater to the south of the front of the moon , south of the Mare Nubium . From north to west it is surrounded by the Saussure , Pictet , Tycho and Street craters .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the American astronomer Mary Proctor .
