admission

For product placement, DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist mixed two tracks from around 130 7 ″ singles , each around half an hour long. For this they mainly used songs from the genres funk and soul , occasionally rock and hip-hop can also be heard. They also added - in keeping with the album title - a few jingles , one of which praises the benefits of cooking with gas : “Gas is so hot. It's not on, when it's off. We all cook better, when we're cookin 'with gas. "

Most songs that are included in the mix, were originally of little-known performers added . Some were also very well-known musicians such as James Brown , Kool & The Gang , The Commodores , Melle Mel and LL Cool J recorded.

From many songs only fragments can be heard, which the two DJs with their turntables and mixers modified with various techniques such as scratching or beat juggling .
