The Barmbek production school is one of eight Hamburg production schools . It was founded in 2009 and is based in the Hamburg district of Barmbek-Nord .

Description and educational goals

The Barmbek production school is a company and vocational preparation school of the Vocational Education Foundation and is financed by the School and Vocational Training Authority . It is part of the school-job transition system, provides an alternative to training preparation at vocational schools and is therefore a substitute for compulsory education . The target group are students who are in their last year of compulsory schooling.

The pedagogical orientation is strongly practice-oriented. There are five trades in which the students mainly work: wood, metal, cosmetics, gastronomy, and the commercial area. In addition, lessons are given in the core subjects German, mathematics and English. In addition, professional orientation and application training take place.

The aim is for the students to develop self-confidence, motivation and manual skills through the practical activities so that they can create the subsequent perspective, i.e. the transition to training. In addition, they can acquire the first general school leaving certificate.
