The ®Profax Verlag AG (proper spelling: ®Profax Verlag AG) was founded in 1975 by Gertrud Zimmermann founded and one of the pioneers in the development of learning materials with self-control. Today profax Verlag AG mainly produces web-based e-learning programs, learning books for the profax learning device and hourglass arithmetic training.

Development of the profax learning device and foundation of profax Verlag AG
In 1965, the practicing Swiss teachers Hans Giezendanner, Gertrud Zimmermann and Ernst Bindschedler developed a learning device that allows immediate self-control. The trio was advised by the well-known psychologist and didactician Prof. Hans Aebli . The device was later called profax or profax learning device . This should enable the students to practice independently and relieve the teachers of correction work. In cooperation with pedagogical and didactic specialists, an assortment of supplementary study books was created, mainly for the primary level.
On December 4, 1975, Gertrud Zimmermann finally founded profax Verlag AG to sell the profax learning device and study books. She ran the publishing house as a family business.
Renewal of the publishing house, profax foundation and development of profaxonline
The publisher Gertrud Zimmermann died in 2003. Before that, she succeeded in laying the foundation for a restructuring so that the company could be taken over by the new management and the continued existence of profax Verlag AG was secured. At the same time, the portfolio was expanded to include e-learning programs, which since 2010 have mainly been sold via the company's own learning platform, profaxonline. Gertrud Zimmermann also initiated the establishment of the profax foundation to award the profax prize , an appreciation of outstanding achievements in the field of teaching and education.

Profax Verlag AG is currently developing, producing and selling its own e-learning programs as well as those for other publishers and providers such as Klett and Balmer , Lehrmittelverlag Zürich , the Luxembourg Ministry of Education and edufix in German , French , English and Luxembourgish .
