location

The Professor-Jodl-Hof is located in the south-east of Döbling (cadastral municipality Oberdöbling ) between the Döblinger Gürtel, Sommergasse and Guneschgasse. The official address of the residential complex is Döblinger Gürtel 21–23.

architecture

The Professor-Jodl-Hof was planned in 1925/26 by the architects Rudolf Frass , Karl Dorfmeister and Rudolf Perco and named after the philosophy professor Friedrich Jodl . In its structure, the Professor-Jodl-Hof with its 271 apartments forms a large block complex around an inner courtyard. The curved east facade of the complex follows the course of the belt and has a strong, expressionistic architectural language. The courtyard is dominated by the striking gate construction, the expressionist architectural style is also continued in the inner courtyard. This was decorated with a large medallion from the namesake Friedrich Jodl. The expressive details of the facade design include angular folds and indentations on the tower and the drive-through portal on Guneschgasse and the flagpole at the main entrance. A few shops were housed in the row of arcades clad with clinker bricks.
