Professor St. Roman

Professor St. Roman (actually Samuel Thiersfeld ; born October 14, 1829 in Jaroslau , Galicia , † June 8, 1918 in Vienna ) was an Austrian magician of Galician-Jewish origin.

Actually a confectioner by profession, from 1857 he performed under the name of Professor St. Roman with imitations of famous personalities, with musical performances and magic tricks. His great skill in handling playing cards and coins is particularly emphasized. He was considered one of the greatest among his professional colleagues.

He had performances with Kaiser Wilhelm , Kaiser Franz Joseph and Otto von Bismarck , among others .
