The Progressive Internationale is an international organization with the purpose of uniting, organizing and mobilizing progressive political forces worldwide under a common vision.

history

The appeal for its establishment took place in December 2018 at a joint event organized by the Democracy in Europe movement and the US think tank Sanders Institute by Jane O'Meara Sanders . It was officially founded on May 11th, 2020 at the time of the global COVID-19 pandemic to counter "growing nationalism". The PI Council is scheduled to hold an opening summit in Reykjavik in September 2020.

Members

The first signatories include: Noam Chomsky , Hilda Heine , Ece Temelkuran , Gael García Bernal , Áurea Carolina , Celso Amorim , Srećko Horvat , Carola Rackete , Yanis Varoufakis , John McDonnell , Ertuğrul Kürkçü , Scott Ludlam and others. a. The Council is responsible for strategic direction and the Cabinet is the executive body of the Progressive International. The secretariat, which is currently being set up, will act as a coordinating body and be responsible for day-to-day business, member support and other administrative tasks.
