Rastko project

The Rastko - Electronic Library of Serbian Culture project was a non-profit project founded in 1997 for the electronic publication of Serbian cultural assets.

His activities included:

  • Electronic publication of humanities papers on Serbia
  • Publication of the results of scientific conferences and studies on the culture of the Balkan Peninsula
  • Multilateral cooperation with the states on the Balkan Peninsula
  • Establishment of regional centers
  • Technical education

The project's virtual library contained more than half a gigabyte of material such as e-books , photographs and comics . Most of the content was available in Serbian , English and Russian , with a smaller part in French , German , Spanish and other languages. The assortment ranged from medieval manuscripts to science fiction literature. Both public domain and copyrighted works were offered.

The Rastko project had the following regional centers:

  2. Romania (Rastko - Timişoara)
  3. Montenegro (Rastko - Cetinje)
  4. Kosovo (Rastko - Gračanica-Peć)
  5. Boka Kotorska (Rastko - Boka)
  6. Hungary (Rastko - Budapest-Szent-Andrea)
  7. Ukraine (Rastko - Kiev-L'vov)
  8. Bulgaria (Rastko - Bulgaria)
  9. Bosnian Krajina (Rastko - Banja Luka)
  10. Drina (Rastko - Drina)
  11. Slovenia (Rastko - Slovenia)
  12. Gorania (Rastko - Gora, about the culture of Gorans and the areas in Kosovo they populate)
  13. Albania (Rastko - Shkoder)

The regional centers were independent and organized their activities in cooperation with local people from academic, cultural and public life. Regional centers for Jews , Roma , Gypsies and 29 other ethno-cultural minorities on the Balkan Peninsula were planned under the aspect of minority protection .
