history

Stumbling blocks for the Neustädter family

The property was built in 1898 by the Bad Kissingen architect Carl Krampf . The red sandstone building with saddle roofs and gray sandstone structure, erected over a hooked ground plan , was designed in the style of historicism .

The property served as the parish hall of the New Synagogue , also built by Carl Krampf at the same time, which was devastated during the November pogroms in 1938 and demolished a little later. The neo-Romanesque design language of the synagogue is also present in a lighter form in the parish hall. Today the property houses a prayer room and the permanent exhibition Jewish life in Bad Kissingen .

In 1942 Gustav Neustädter , the last head of the Jewish community in Bad Kissingen , was deported to the Izbica ghetto with his wife Paula Neustädter and son Ernst David Neustädter . The place and time of death of the Neustädter family are unknown. They are remembered by three stumbling blocks in front of the property.
