The Prosna is a river in western Poland and the left tributary of the Warta ( Warta ).

It rises in the Opole Voivodeship and flows into the Warta not far from Pyzdry ( Eng . Peisern ) after a 180 km long northward run . Until 1918 the Prosna was a border river of the German and Russian Empire for almost its entire length and between 1918 and 1939 its southern course formed the border between the German Empire and the Republic of Poland .

The largest city on the Prosna is Kalisz ( Kalisch ).

Tributaries

Łużyca , Pokrzywnica , Swędrnia flow into the Prosna on the right and Ołobok on the left .
