Prospekt is an English progressive metal band from Oxford that was formed in 2008.
history
The band was formed in 2008 by guitarist Lee Luland and drummer Blake Richardson. Together they both started rehearsing before bassist Phil Wicker and singer Matt Winchester joined the band in 2009. A first self-titled EP was released in March 2011. In the fall of the same year Richard Marshall joined the band as a keyboardist. He also took over the vocals since Winchester had left the band. In 2013 the debut album The Colorless Sunrise was released via Sensory Records . The album was mixed by Jens Bogren and Adam "Nolly" Getgood , and also mastered by Bogren. In October 2014 the band will perform at ProgPower Europe .
style
According to the band biography on Facebook , the band was influenced by Dream Theater , Symphony X , Opeth and Circus Maximus , as well as film music and fusion . In his review of the album The Colorless Sunrise, Olaf Schmidt from laut.de also heard similarities to Symphony X, Dream Theater and Shadow Gallery . The band played progressive metal in 1995. Two songs would exceed the ten-minute mark. The musicians play at a technically high level and the guitarist Luland makes use of arpeggios .
