Prostaterios (month)

Prostaterios ( ancient Greek Προστατήριος ) is a month of the Boeotian calendar .

It was the third month after Hermaios and before Agrionios ; in the Julian calendar it roughly corresponds to the month of March . The name can be traced back to the epics of Prostaterios , with which the god Apollo was worshiped as a protective deity in Boeotia and Attica . The month at Plutarch is documented in literature ; it is known in inscriptions from Chaironeia , Tanagra and Thebes .
