The Protestantse Kerk in Aagtkerke

The Protestantse Kerk is an essentially late Gothic Protestant Uniate parish church in Aierterkerke , municipality of Veere in the Dutch province of Zeeland .

history

By relocating the parish church from Oost- Domburg , an independent parish church was set up in Aagtkerke in 1320 . Up until the Reformation the church was consecrated to Saint Agatha , which is still evidenced by the place name Aagtkerkes. The 15th century church tower, built in the Scheldt Gothic style, dates back to the pre-Reformation period . The nave was given its present form during renovations in 1625, which also destroyed the choir. A sacristy was built in its place.

In the 19th century, a school building was added immediately, which has served as the town hall since 1905. The building has been a library since 1966. Thus, the church round is now continuously dominated by an elongated building complex. Since the French occupation, the church tower has been in the possession of the civil parish of AAGENKKE since 1798.

The parish belongs to the uniate Protestantse Kerk in Nederland, which was created in 2004 .

organ

The organ was built in 1956 by the organ builders Van Vulpen brothers. The slider chest instrument has 5 stops on a manual (C – f 3 : Holpijp 8 ′, Prestant 4 ′, Roerfluit 4 ′, Octaaf 2 ′, Scherp II). The pedal (C – d 1 ) is attached. The actions are mechanical.
