Protonuraghe Seneghe
The Protonuraghe Seneghe is located near Suni in the province of Oristano on a terrace on the slope and dominates the valley of Modolo in Sardinia , which is densely overgrown with oak and olive trees . Nuraghi of this type are also called corridor uraghen ( Italian Nuraghe a corridoio ) and emerged in small numbers as forerunners of the classical or " tholosnuraghen ". The Seneghe is one of the most important and well-preserved examples on the island given the peculiarity of protonuraghi.
The protonuraghe has an irregular elliptical shape (16.5 × 15.2 m). The masonry consists of large, roughly hewn basalt stones . It is still between three and six meters high.
A straight, walkable corridor with entrances at each end runs through it, dividing the structure into two parts. The main corridor running south is between 1.40 and 1.15 m wide and 1.95 m high. From the main aisle there are three side aisles (niches) on one side. On the opposite side there are two openings in an archway that leads to a staircase that opened up the no longer existing first floor. The dimensions of the lateral and semicircular canals , which are covered with lintel-shaped slabs, are similar. The lengths of the three niches, which have round ends, are six meters (niche 1 + 2) and 2.3 m for the third niche. The middle one seems to have been the most important. It is slightly larger than the first and is illuminated by a trapezoidal window (1.7 × 0.7 m).
Time position
The approximately 300 Protonuraghi on Sardinia were formed during phase B of the two-phase Bonnanaro culture , which was the successor to the both megalithic and Copper Age Monte Claro culture between 1800 and 1500 BC. Ruled.
