The Protonuraghe Talei is located on the slopes of Monte Lisai near the road from Ortueri to Sorgono , near the pilgrimage church Sagra di San Mauro, about 7 km west of Sorgono in the province of Nuoro in Sardinia . It is one of the most impressive protonuraghi in central Sardinia.

The well-preserved, roughly oval monument made of large granite stones was excavated in 1981, and shards from the early Bronze Age in the Sa Turricula style were discovered. Two opposite entrances, located in the short sides of the oval, lead into the corridor that runs through the entire mass of the building. On the left side there is a staircase to the terrace (12 steps are preserved). There are two opposing niches that have partially collapsed.

To the southwest of the Protonuraghe there are remains of a large giant grave .

Time position

The approximately 300 Protonuraghi on Sardinia were formed during phase B of the two-phase Bonnanaro culture , which was the successor to the both megalithic and Copper Age Monte Claro culture between 1800 and 1500 BC. Ruled.
