The Protos Type C is a luxury car that the Berlin car manufacturer Protos reissued in 1918 as the only model after the First World War .
The car had a four-cylinder - SV -Reihenmotor with 2.6 liters of displacement, the 30 hp at 1800 / min. developed. The engine power was passed on to the rear wheels via a four-speed gearbox with a shift lever on the outside or inside on the right. The vehicle had a U-profile pressed steel frame on which two rigid axles were suspended from semi-elliptic leaf springs. The rear springs were designed as Underslung half springs. The foot brake only worked on the cardan shaft.
In 1924 the Protos Type C1 replaced this model. Its engine of the same size was equipped with overhead valves ( OHV ). As a result, it now developed 45 hp at 2500 rpm. In 1925 the gearshift lever moved to the center of the car and, in addition to the cardan shaft , the front wheels were also braked with the foot brake.
When Protos was taken over by NAG in 1927 , around 10,000 of the types C and C1 were built after the war.
