Przedsiębiorstwo Materiałów Podsadzkowych Przemysłu Węglowego
The Przedsiębiorstwo Materiałów Podsadzkowych Przemysłu Węglowego (PMPPW; German: Operation for backfill materials of the coal industry ) was the state sand track in the Upper Silesian coal area between 1951 and 1992.
history
The PMPPW was founded in 1951 to transfer the nationalized, private, formerly German sand railway companies into a joint administration. The new administration took over the entire route network and the vehicle fleet from the private sand railways.
Acquired sand tracks:
- Sand railway company of the Count of Ballestrem (formerly the sand railway company of the Graefl. V. Ballestremsch'en and Borsig'schen coal works )
- Sand track of the Schaffgott'schen Werke
- Sand tracks of the Prussian Hütten- und Bergwerks AG
As in earlier German times, the operating center of the sand railway was the depot in Pyskowice ( Peiskretscham ). Another workshop was located in Przechlębie . In the 1990s PMPPW was taken over by PCC SE . In 2007 the company founded East West Railways together with Railion . In 2009, the transport division of PCC was taken over by DB AG and renamed DB Schenker Rail Polska .
