Like all pseudomonads , Pseudomonas cannabina isa polar flagellated, rod-shaped, Gram-negative bacterium that has long been part of the P. syringae complex, but is understood as an independent species according to genome analyzes.

It causes leaf and stem rot in hemp ( Cannabis sativa ). In addition to the Pathovar cannabina, the Pathovar alisalensis is also known, which attacks a large number of different hosts such as tomatoes.
