Pseudorhipsalis alata is a species of plant in the genus Pseudorhipsalis from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Pseudorhipsalis alata grows pendulous, is branched and is up to 5 meters long. The shoot sections are broad, linear to lanceolate, 20 to 40 centimeters long and 3 to 6 centimeters wide.

The yellowish flowers are 15 millimeters long and have a 4 millimeter long tube. The egg-shaped fruits are yellowish green and 10 millimeters long.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Pseudorhipsalis alata is common in Jamaica at altitudes of 100 to 170 meters. The first description as Cactus alatus was published in 1788 by Olof Peter Swartz . Nathaniel Lord Britton and Joseph Nelson Rose put the species in 1913 in the genus Pseudorhipsalis .

In the Red List of Threatened Species of IUCN is the species as " Endangered (EN) ," d. H. listed as endangered.
