Pterin pigments

Under Pterinpigmenten refers to a large group of widely used in natural dyes which are derived from heterocyclic pterin derived. They are particularly widespread in the animal kingdom. So you can find them as dyes, especially in the eyes and wings of insects. They are particularly common in butterflies . They are also the coloring components of the eyes and skin of fish , amphibians and reptiles . Important representatives are e.g. As the Xanthopterin (yellow), leucopterin (colorless / white), Erythropterin (red), Lepidopterin , Drosopterin or Sepiapterin .
